AI can detect early signs of lung cancer, before doctors can see it
• Researchers in Boston have developed an AI tool called Sybil, which can accurately predict whether a person will develop lung cancer in the next year 86%-94% of the time.
• The CDC currently recommends that adults at risk for lung cancer get a low-dose CT scan to screen for the disease annually. Sybil could potentially increase the rates of early detection of lung cancer, and survival rates as well.
• The AI tool relies on analyzing a single CT scan and predicting cancer risk in the next one to six years.
• There are concerns about over diagnosis and potential biases due to lack of data diversity used to train AI tools.

• Runway launched its first mobile app yesterday that gives users access to Gen-1, their video-to-video generative AI model, only available on iOS devices.
• Users can record videos from their phones and generate an AI video in minutes using text prompts, images or style presets such as “Cloudscape”, claymation, charcoal sketch, watercolor art and paper origami.
• The app takes a few minutes to produce the final product but users can also get a free version with a limit of 525 credits and only being able to upload videos five seconds long.
• Two premium plans are also available: Standard ($143.99/year) and Pro ($344.99/year).
• Gen-2 has slowly begun to roll out access for its closed beta and the tools have helped influencers and studios reduce editing time from hours to minutes.
