• The S&P 500 rose 0.88%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.11%. The Nasdaq Composite rallied 1.71%.
• Nvidia shares soared 24.37% as the tech giant's second quarter guidance shocked Wall Street to the upside.
Scientists Use AI to Discover Abaucin, a New Antibiotic Against Deadly Superbug A. baumannii
• Scientists from McMaster University and MIT have discovered a new antibiotic, Abaucin, that can be used to fight Acinetobacter baumannii, a deadly superbug classified as a “critical” threat by the World Health Organization.
• An AI algorithm was used to screen thousands of antibacterial molecules and identify Abaucin as a potential antibiotic.
• Abaucin was tested in a wound infection model in mice and found to suppress the infection.
• AI methods offer a cost-effective way to rapidly explore vast regions of chemical space and discover new antibiotics.
Opportunity! - Majority of Americans have heard of ChatGPT, but only a few have used it yet
• Pew Research Center conducted a survey among 10,701 U.S. adults to understand Americans’ familiarity and experiences with ChatGPT, an open-access online chatbot.
• Awareness of ChatGPT is higher among those with higher levels of education and income, as well as Asian adults.
• But …. Few U.S. adults have used ChatGPT for any purpose, with opinions about its utility being somewhat mixed.
• Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world.
