OpenAI launches an official ChatGPT app for iOS

β€’ OpenAI has launched an official iOS app of its popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, allowing users to access the chatbot on the go.

β€’ It is free to use and free from ads, with voice input and sync capabilities across devices.

β€’ The app is US-only at launch but will expand to other countries in the coming weeks, with an Android version coming soon.

β€’ Google recently lifted the waitlist from its own AI chatbot, Bard, and consumer spending for mobile AI apps have been significant this year.

Ironically … Apple Joins A Growing List Of Companies Cracking Down On Use Of ChatGPT By Staffers

β€’ Apple has banned the use of AI tools, including ChatGPT and Github’s Copilot, for staffers amid fears of potential data leaks.

β€’ Samsung and other companies have also put restrictions on similar services after accidental code leakages.

β€’ Most businesses are concerned about how AI platforms store and use user data for training models.

β€’ These bans do not reflect negativity towards AI overall, but caution in how third-party service holders use sensitive data shared on their services.

As with a lot of early AI software - The ChatGPT iPhone app has privacy problems

β€’ OpenAI released an iOS app for ChatGPT, quickly becoming the most popular free app in the App Store with over 100 million users of the main software.

β€’ This made it the fastest-growing technology product of all time, outpacing companies like Facebook and TikTok.

β€’ However, there is a privacy concern within the new app. OpenAI can collect personal information from conversations and review them for training purposes.

β€’ OpenAI should provide an opt-out option so that users can decide whether or not they want their conversations used for research or training. Which Im sure will happen very soon before rolling out to europe.
