Microsoft ditches the waiting list and launches new features for its AI-powered Bing and Edge

• Microsoft has significantly expanded its artificial intelligence-based search features in an open preview available to anyone with a Microsoft account.

• Bing and Edge have been updated to include visual and multimodal searches, persistent chat tools, image creation tools and more.

• Bing Chat now saves users’ history for easy reference, and third-party plugins are planned for restaurants, Wolfram Alpha and other services.

• The new version of the Edge browser includes functionalities such as export/share conversations from Bing Chat, document summarization capabilities and Actions which can help complete tasks with fewer steps.

The 6 biggest AI features to expect from Google I/O 2023 on May 10th

• Google was a leader in developing advanced AI models pre-generative AI, but its current models, such as Google Bard, have been underwhelming in comparison to competitors.

• Google I/O is expected to be used as a platform for the company to promote its latest developments and bridge the innovation gap.

• Products anticipated to be announced include smarter Bard AI, an integrated search engine with AI features, AI upgrades for Workspace, enhance functionality for Google Assistant and the official debut of Imagen.

• Google AI researchers Niki Parmar and Ashish Vaswani have launched their own company Essential AI, valued at $50 million, to develop generative AI systems.

• Investment in generative AI companies is expected to surge this year, due to Microsoft's $10 billion investment into OpenAI and other investors pouring capital into unproven startups.

• Startups backed by venture capitalists often lack a clear plan on how they will make a profit and an influx of capital has inspired many AI researchers without management experience to launch their own companies.

• Ron Conway held two days of festivities for his portfolio companies in March with prominent speakers such as former President Barack Obama and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, while other investors are hosting bar nights and events to court talent.

• Numerous startups have raised sizeable funds including Charaacter.AI ($1 billion), Cohere ($2 billion), Eleven Labs ($100 million) Humane ($100 million), LangChain ($200 million).
