Responding indirectly to that letter ... "Not training GPT-5" (yet) Sam Altman reveals plans about next ChatGPT update

• Sam Altman, CEO and co-founder of OpenAI, stated that their company is not currently training GPT-5 despite earlier concerns of its rapid growth.

• An open letter was circulated among the tech world asking labs like OpenAI to pause development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems more powerful than GPT-4.

• The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) intends to set a common policy on privacy rules for Artificial Intelligence by establishing a task force on ChatGPT; additionally, Italy, Germany and Spain have taken steps towards curbing its use.

And next we have ... Spain’s privacy watchdog says it’s probing ChatGPT too

• The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) has initiated preliminary investigation proceedings against OpenAI, owner of the ChatGPT service, for possible non-compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

• Italy’s DPA has raised GDPR concerns over ChatGPT and issued a suspension order.

• The AEPD asked the European Data Protection Board to consider ChatGPT in a plenary discussion this week and launch a task force to promote cooperation and exchange information on the actions taken by data protection authorities.

• Spain’s AEPD has only announced preliminary investigation at this stage, while Italy's DPA issued a suspension order.

Following the report of 10,000 CPU's heading to Twitter HQ ... Elon Musk Creates New Artificial Intelligence Company X.AI

• Elon Musk has created a company dedicated to artificial intelligence, called X.AI, which was incorporated last month.

• Musk sought funding from SpaceX and Tesla investors to get the company started, and purchased thousands of GPUs to power an upcoming AI product.

• X.AI appears to align with Musk's vision of an "everything app" under the X Corp. label, and is in opposition to OpenAI, the company he co-founded in 2015 but left in 2018.

• OpenAI has become a recognizable name for its ChatGPT and GPT-4 technology and has spurred Microsoft and Google's efforts to integrate AI into many of their products.
