• Microsoft has warned some Bing-powered search engines that it will revoke access to its search index if they continue to use it as the foundation of their AI tools, according to Bloomberg.

• Sources close to the situation say that Microsoft believes using Bing’s data in this way is a violation of its contract and that it may choose to terminate agreements with the search engines.

• DuckDuckGo, You.com and Neeva have all introduced AI tools of their own, but these are apparently being questioned by Microsoft due to misuse of its data.

• Microsoft likely wants its search data exclusive to Bing’s chatbot, which is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4 language model.

• Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, defended OpenAI against Elon Musk’s criticism during an interview on the “On With Kara Swisher” podcast.

•Musk had reportedly offered to lead OpenAI but left after being rejected, later attacked OpenAI for becoming a for-profit company and deviating from its non-profit mission.

•Altman shared that OpenAI chose not to open source its technology to prevent 'havoc' while still offering wide access.

•In December, Altman complained about users of his A.I tools coaxing responses that were racist and sexist; Musk responded he was against any filters cleaning up ChatGPT’s responses.

• OpenAI has released details about the ChatGPT incident on Monday, which exposed some of its users’ payment data.

• The issue was caused by a bug in an open source library called Redis-py that created a caching issue.

• Around 1.2 percent of ChatGPT Plus users may have been affected.

• Data could have been seen if a user accessed the 'Manage subscription' page or received a subscription confirmation email with payment info during the incident period.

• OpenAI is reaching out to those who may have had their data exposed and has posted a technical explanation of why it happened.
