Google Bard Deep Dive

PLUS: Would you give ChatGPT access to your bank accounts? This man did ...

Good Morning Pigeoneers! This is the Robot Pigeon. Which really is just a man wearing a robot and trying to fit in by researching all week to deliver the latest AI news to 10,000 avid fans …

This week has seen one of the biggest developments in the AI space probably since GPT-4 about 4 weeks ago which in AI years is about a decade! We had a preview of the event but now we can actually use the new Bard, I have not done specific tools today, instead a deep dive in to the new features from Google

Now lets get to it ...

🛠The Google Bard update event summary ...

Since starting my journey with AI I must admit I have mainly favoured the original, ChatGPT, but following the massive Google Bard update this week, it now has a big problem.

Bard is the main competitor to ChatGPT with many advantages.

→ Completely free to use

→ Connected to the internet in real time (No time restrictions)

→ Accessible in 180 countries since yesterday

Don’t forget, the knowledge of ChatGPT ends in 2021.

1. Search on the internet 👓 ChatGPT has not yet released the internet search to the general public. But Bard already has access to it and is connected in real time. This is a huge difference

2. Voice input 🎤 You can talk to Bard instead of writing your prompt.

3. Export the generated text 💾 you can directly export a response in 2 clicks. You can even export it as an email.

4. Make summaries of web pages As Bard has access to the internet you can ask it any question about a site. Very useful to make summaries or understand complex subjects.

5. Provide multiple drafts of its response 📚 Bard automatically generates 3 versions of the same answer, you can choose the one that fits best

6. Explain code 🔢 Give a link to Bard and ask it a question about a file. It'll be able to explain what it's for and how it works.

7. See Google searches related to your prompt 🔍 Bard suggests you Google searches to go further. This allows you to quickly check the sources unlike ChatGPT.

8. Plan your trips ✈ Bard is able to find for you the best places to visit. ChatGPT can do this too but is not up to date with the latest things to see.

9.Use Plugins 🔌 Get instant access to these apps amongst others: ・Spotify (Music) ・Walmart (retail) ・Indeed (job hunting) ・Uber Eats (meal delivery) ・Adobe Firefly (image creation) ・And all Google Apps

  1. Further Updates:

    1. You'll be able to prompt Bard with images too

    2. It will provide images in the response

    3. Bard will be available on mobile

It is worth noting that there are still a high level of inaccuracies in the responses, so the google assisted fact checking is very useful until this is improved.

To conclude, the AI arms race is very much on and I think we will see each product taking their competitors features and then doubling down to try and keep a lead … No sign of the industry slowing down just yet then!
