Hippocratic AI Raises $50 Million to Power the Healthcare Bot Workforce

• Munjal Shah has developed an artificial intelligence system, Hippocratic AI, to bridge healthcare worker gap in the next few years.

• The $50 million seed round raised by the eight cofounders will be used to develop a large language model that will power voice and text chatbot healthcare advisors.

• This model is undergoing tests with certifications, human feedback, and bedside manner checks.

• Google's Med-PaLM 2 achieved 85.4% accuracy on the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam, while Microsoft and OpenAI's GPT-4 attained 86.65%. Hippocratic AI surpasses this with 104 of 114 benchmarks beaten or tied.

Google Cloud launches A.I.-powered tools to accelerate drug discovery, precision medicine

• Google Cloud launched two new AI-powered suites: the Target and Lead Identification Suite and the Multiomics Suite.

• These tools aim to help companies accelerate drug discovery, advance precision medicine, and ultimately reduce the time it takes to bring a new drug to market.

• The Target and Lead Identification Suite helps researchers predict protein structures, while the Multiomics Suite helps them manage genomic data.

• Companies such as Pfizer, Cerevel Therapeutics, and Colossal Biosciences are already using the suites and have stated they can save an estimated three years on average by using them.

• AlphaFold2 (a machine learning model developed by a subsidiary of Google) is used in the suites to identify how proteins interact with molecules; those that demonstrate ability to treat a disease can become the basis for a new drug.

Apple reveals new accessibility features, like custom text-to-speech voices

• Apple previewed new tools to improve cognitive, vision and speech accessibility for iPhone, iPad and Mac users this year.

• Assistive Access enhances the interface of the iPhone and iPad by simplifying communication with loved ones and sharing content such as photos and music. Visual features such as large icons, increased contrast and clearer text labels can be customized by the user.

• Point and Speak uses the device’s camera & LiDAR Scanner to help low vision users interact with physical objects that have several text labels; available in 11 languages.

• Personal Voice creates an automated voice using machine learning; data is never shared with anyone else despite being stored locally on the device; currently only available to English speakers on Apple silicon devices.

• Live Speech allows non-verbal people to pre-type what they want to say that will be spoken aloud, including access to preset phrases; available across Apple devices.

• SignTime is extending its on-demand sign language interpreter services to Germany, Italy, Spain & South Korea.
