Hong Kong rolls out first AI curriculum for junior secondary students
• Hong Kong has rolled out the first AI curriculum for junior secondary students, featuring 10-14 hours of lessons that include ChatGPT, ethical issues and social impacts.
• The curriculum is based on recommendations from Chinese University's "AI for the Future Project" launched in 2017.
• Students will be taught to use Generative Artificial Intelligence with mirror sites, and work on group projects to solve existing problems with AI knowledge.
• Education Bureau will provide workshops on AI teaching to more than 1,000 public secondary school ICT teachers from September.
• An enriched coding curriculum will also be introduced for Primary Four to Six pupils in the coming academic year.
Adobe Offers IP Indemnity to Enterprise Customers for Generative AI Artworks
• Adobe has created an indemnity clause to protect enterprise customers from copyright claims related to works generated in Adobe Firefly, its generative AI art creation tool.
• Adobe chief strategy officer Scott Belsky said that enterprise customers are concerned about using generative AI without understanding how it was trained.
• Adobe has trained Firefly on Adobe Stock images, which it has broad permission to use, along with openly licensed content and public domain content where the copyright has expired.
• Adobe's indemnity clause is like an insurance policy, designed to reassure customers that it's safe to use this technology for commercial purposes.
AI-Powered Dubbing with YouTube's Aloud Tool
• YouTube is introducing an AI-powered dubbing service from Google’s Area 120 incubator to make it easier to dub videos in other languages.
• The tool first transcribes the video, allowing the user to review and edit the transcription, then translates and produces the dub.
• YouTube is currently testing the tool with hundreds of creators and supports a few languages, with more to come.
• Down the line, YouTube is working to make translated audio tracks sound like the creator’s voice, with more expression and lip sync, planned for 2024.
