Italy gives OpenAI initial to-do list for lifting ChatGPT suspension order

• Italy's data protection authority has ordered OpenAI to take certain measures to lift the temporary suspension of ChatGPT, based on suspected GDPR breaches.

• These measures include publishing an information notice detailing its data processing, implementing age gating and robust age verification to prevent minors from using the service, providing ways for users & non-users to exercise rights over their data, and conducting a local awareness campaign informing Italians that the company is processing their data.

• OpenAI must comply by April 30th with these measures or face additional or different sanctions after the fact-finding exercise is complete.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says ‘really good’ A.I. models take ‘billions of dollars’ to train

• Amazon is introducing Bedrock, a cloud service for developers to enhance software with artificial intelligence systems.

• Bedrock allows access to Amazon's first-party language models (Titan) as well as those from AI21, Anthropic and Stability AI.

• Through Titan, users can generate text for blog posts, emails and other documents or help with search and personalization.

• C3.ai, Pegasystems, Accenture and Deloitte are interested in Bedrock's easy-to-use capabilities and cost-effectiveness.

UMG tells Apple and Spotify to block AI lyric, melody scraping

• UMG has issued takedown requests to streaming services to block AI from extracting melodry and lyrics from their copyrighted songs.

• UMG is concerned about AI bots using their songs to create similar music and is asking streaming companies to cut off access from developers using it for such purposes.

• MusicLM, a product developed by Google, was trained on 280,000 hours of music but has not been released due to potential misappropriation of content.

Sony investment will put AI chips inside Raspberry Pi boards

• Sony is making a strategic investment in Raspberry Pi to bring its Aitrios edge computing AI platform to users worldwide.

• The platform supports the development of solutions utilizing edge AI devices, providing a unique development experience.

• The addition of Sony's Aitrios makes Raspberry Pi more useful for coders to prototype IoT and other devices, such as inventory monitoring and recognition.

• Google TV is adding content from providers such as Tubi, Plex and Haystack News to make live TV channels a central part of the platform.

• Content includes shows like Westworld, Law & Order: SVU, international programming, and news content from NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox.

• The feature will be available on Chromecast with Google TV and select TVs with Google TV built-in, with Android TV devices to follow later this year.

OpenAI looks beyond diffusion with ‘consistency’-based image generator

• OpenAI recently released a paper on "consistency models," aimed at making image generation more efficient.

• Unlike today's popular diffusion models, consistency models focus on producing results in one or two steps rather than 10-1000.

• The imagery generated by the model is not yet impressive, but the model can generate images for diverse tasks quickly and efficiently.

• It could be a major step forward in AI research, though further experiments are needed to validate its potential.
