Microsoft has hired former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman to lead a new advanced AI research team.Altman and Brockman will be joined by a number of other key OpenAI employees, including Jakub Pachocki, Szymon Sidor, and Aleksander Madry.
Microsoft's new AI research team is working on a number of projects, including developing custom AI chips and refining large language models.
Meanwhile, Emmett Shear, the co-founder of Twitch, a popular video game streaming platform acquired by Amazon in 2014, tweeted Monday that he will become OpenAI’s interim CEO, replacing Mira Murati, who was named to that role Friday in a management reshuffle.
