Meanwhile over at Microsoft ... Another U-Turn, as they undo some of the restrictions they placed on Bing this morning (or at least earlier this week!) ...

Sneak WebCAM from the Microsoft meetings this week ...

• Microsoft recently enforced stricter guidelines on interaction with the Bing AI chatbot (limiting chats to 5 turns per session and 50 per day).

• However, they are now loosening these restrictions (6 turns per session and 60 chats per day, increasing to 100), while ensuring that users will be able to choose between Precise, Creative and Balanced tones.

• The changes come as a response to feedback from Reddit commenters who complained about the earlier limits, saying the AI had been “neutered”.

• Microsoft aims to use open testing with a limited set of preview testers to find atypical use cases from which it can learn to improve its product.

Baidu to deploy conversational AI across search, in-car entertainment and more ...

• Baidu revealed more details about Ernie Bot, their counterpart to ChatGPT.

• Ernie Bot has the potential to provide better search service and answers, interactive chat experiences and generated content.

• Baidu plans to integrate Ernie Bot with its AI Cloud to rewrite the rules of game in the market.

• Ernie Bot will be installed on Apollo smart cabin product series for improved human-vehicle interaction experience.

The Dudes Who Created Instagram Launched a New AI News App this week ...

• Artifact, co-founded by Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, is a personalized news feed powered by artificial intelligence released to the public today.

• After downloading, users are prompted to select ten areas of interest which range from home products to U.S. politics for a more personal feed.

• Artifact also allows readers to prioritize any subscriptions they may have, as well as provides an AI engine that learns about reading habits.

• Artifact’s Headlines tab collects multiple different outlets’ articles on a given issue in order to help readers avoid bias.

• Although the app provides AI to filter through content and feeds, some concerns remain about how this technology will influence the way news is consumed, as well as what false or extremist content may appear in user feeds.

• To address these issues, Artifact uses third party fact checking services like Politifact and Allsides.com in order to pass a “high quality bar” for all content shared on its platform.
