Adobe announces Generative AI product Firefly

• Adobe's Scott Belsky discussed the concerns of using generative AI without knowing its source material.

• Just this morning, Adobe released a beta of their own generative AI, called Firefly.

• The product will source content from Adobe's library and ensure proper compensations are given to the artists whose works are used.

• David Wadhwani promises that both companies and artists will benefit from this AI technology as it offers more opportunity for content creation.

Nvidia partners with Google cloud to provide AI for video processing

• Nvidia has partnered with Google to launch the L4 platform, optimized for video-focused applications, available in private preview through G2 virtual machines.

• L4 GPU provides video decoding, transcoding and streaming capabilities.

• Google will integrate L4 into Vertex AI for enterprise customers.

• L4 is also available from hardware partners such as Dell, HP Enterprise and Lenovo.

• Nvidia has also launched the L40, H100 NVL and Grace Hopper for Recommendation Models hardware solutions.

• The company launched DGX Cloud platform to rent clusters of hardware and access AI Enterprise software layer.

• DGX Cloud will be hosted by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Microsoft Azure, expanding soon to Google Cloud.

Sir Sam wants to convince billions of people to scan their eyes to prove they aren’t bots. Meet Worldcoin, the founder’s crypto project

• Worldcoin, a company founded by former Y Combinator president Sam Altman, has developed a unique iris-scanning Orb technology for creating and verifying digital identities to prove "humanness".

• The intricate design of the orb pays homage to an engineering masterpiece; it houses three sensors in a triangle and is not a perfect sphere but two halves that come together at an angle that matches the orbit of the Earth.

• When someone's iris is scanned by the orb, they are rewarded with 25 proprietary crypto tokens called Worldcoins.

• Despite criticism ranging from privacy concerns to potential labor abuses, conversations with Worldcoin executives, investors and users have illuminated the shared dream of a future enabled by A.I.

• Founder Alex Blania was initially enticed by the idea of an A.I.-powered system for evenly distributing money around the world, although convincing people to sign up proved difficult as rewards such as cryptocurrencies or AirPods could not dampen people's skepticism.

• Finally, in June 2021 when Bloomberg first reported on Worldcoin, their unique orb became a conversation starter - attracting attention and outrage - which secured them top investors and reached them a valuation of $3 billion in early 2022.
