Companies including OpenAI and TikTok have signed up to a new set of guidelines be more transparent around generative AI...

• A group of 10 companies, including OpenAI, TikTok, Adobe, the BBC and Bumble have agreed to a set of guidelines on responsible AI-generated content creation, sharing and building.

• The guidelines were drafted by the Partnership on AI (PAI) in consultation with over 50 organizations.

• Companies must be transparent about what the technology can and cannot do and disclose when people might be interacting with synthetic media.

• One key element is a pact to include ways to tell users when they're interacting with something generated by AI.

• EU AI law will include elements such as watermarks or disclaimers to make disclosure mandatory, not voluntary.

• Missing from guidelines are details on how AI systems could be made more responsible and ensuring there's no toxic content in generative AI models’ data sets.

• Hugging Face and Amazon Web Services have announced an expanded long-term strategic partnership to make AI more open and accessible.

• The goal of the partnership is to enable developers to build, train, and deploy the latest machine learning models in the cloud using purpose-built tools.

• Amazon SageMaker and AWS-designed chips will provide access to popular generative AI models so that they can be freely available and widely used by the AI community.

• Customers can easily fine-tune and deploy state-of-the-art Hugging Face models on Amazon SageMaker and Amazon EC2 with AWS Trainium and AWS Inferentia accelerators for maximum performance at a lower cost.

• The collaboration has already seen a significant growth in the use of Hugging Face on Amazon SageMaker since its start, providing further evidence that generative AI is experiencing a renaissance within the tech industry.
