The first demo of buzzy startup Humane’s wearable AI assistant in leaked clips

β€’ Ex-Apple employees Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno have founded a startup, Humane, to produce a wearable device with an projected display powered by AI.

β€’ Chaudhri gave the first live demo of the device during a TED Talk which has been circulating online ahead of its planned public release on April 22nd.

β€’ The device can be activated by tapping or speaking commands, and supports gesture commands. It can provide summaries of emails, calendar invites, and messages without needing a paired smartphone.

β€’ Finally, the device has a translation functionality which reads out sentences in another language when triggered by holding down a button.

Google will offer customers AI tools to β€˜remix’ content for ad campaigns: report

β€’ Google is looking to incorporate generative AI into its advertising business.

β€’ This will involve customers inputting content like text, images and videos which will be 'remixed' by the AI systems to generate ads targeting audience or sales targets.

β€’ There are risks associated with this approach, such as factual errors being introduced due to biases within training data.

β€’ Google has put "guardrails" in place to try and protect against this, but it may not be possible to fully safeguard against mistakes due to the speed of development of the technology.

Stability AI announces new open-source large language model

β€’ Stability AI has released an open-source suite of large language models (LLMs) called StableLM.

β€’ It is trained on a larger version of the open-source dataset known as Pile, encompassing data from sources such as Wikipedia, Stack Exchange, and PubMed.

β€’ Models are currently available between 3 billion and 7 billion parameters with 15 to 65 billion parameter models arriving later.

β€’ The release expands on the mission to make AI tools more accessible, similar to its text-to-image AI tool Stable Diffusion.
